Welcome!

Thank you for visiting The Community! We are glad that you’ve connected with us and hope the website will tell you a little bit more about who we are and what God is doing with the people who gather here.

Whether you come with a friend, hear about us through a mutual connection, or wander in the door with no connections at all, we want you to know that The Community is a place for all people.  The love of Jesus stretches beyond our comprehension, beyond cultural and social boundaries, and this is a place for the diverse family of God to gather.

Here's a little glimpse of how we understand ourselves as a church:

  • We are a Christ-centered, open and affirming faith community that welcomes all who seek belonging, connection, and a deeper experience of God’s grace. Rooted in meaningful relationships, we embrace joy and lightheartedness alongside an honest exploration of our faith.  We nurture spiritual growth through engaging worship, thought-provoking sermons, community ministry, and opportunities for service. Within our relationships, we create space for vulnerability and growth.
  • We are a safe harbor for those who’ve been hurt or excluded in other religious settings - where honest questioning is welcome and healing is possible.  Here, you don’t have to have it all figured out. You can come as you are, whether carrying burdens or simply looking for a place to be fully yourself—even if you’ve been excluded elsewhere.
  • We are a church home that recognizes the beauty and complexity of people, where you can be replenished, encouraged, and reminded that goodness and love still exist. In a world that often feels overwhelming, we cultivate an authentic community of care, hope, and renewal. We tend to one another so that we can share love in every space we enter.
  • We are deeply rooted in God’s love, being transformed by it and embodying it in the world, especially in the places where we live, go to school, or work.  We live out our faith in tangible ways -  sharing our material gifts with generosity and extending compassion in our relationships. As the world changes, we listen and respond to the needs that arise within and around us. Our call is ever-evolving, shaped by the people who come through our doors and the communities we are called to serve.

Ultimately, this church is a place of warmth and welcome. A place of joy and playfulness. A place where you can be known, accepted, and valued. A place where faith is real, relationships are deep, and grace is abundant.

I do hope that you'll consider joining us on Sundays at 10am, either on our livestream or in person at 7239 Thornapple River Drive, Ada MI 49301. If you're wondering what to expect during your first in-person visit, you can find more info here.

Sincerely,

Pastor Mara Norden
