Remembering Forward

The Hebrew people have lived through a season of significant loss (exile) and are starting life back in their home country. The people hear their scriptures read and interpreted for the first time since exile and they weep, realizing how much they have lost and how far they have to go in rebuilding their lives. But the leaders told them to celebrate. It’s the same for us as our lives fall apart and are put back together again – worship and scripture help us take stock and grieve and celebrate.
